Call to prayer

A call to prayer from the Public Morals Committee of the EPCI Presbytery.

At the start of the Covid-19 lockdown in March, we encouraged our people to pray at home on Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm. This was a great source of help at a time when we were unable to meet for corporate prayer. As circumstances changed in the summer, and as congregations began to meet physically again, it is possible that these home prayer times might have slipped.

In view of the growing alarm about the renewed spread of the virus and its implications for society, we feel that prayer is more vital than ever. We exhort all who can to attend their prayer meeting, but, to involve as many as possible, we want all our people to unite in prayer in their own homes on Fridays at 8pm. We live in dark and bewildering days but, as James 5:16 reminds us, the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. So let us be a denomination at prayer.
